The vision and mission of Greater Bethel Baptist Church is to be:

At Greater Bethel Baptist Church, we are a vibrant community of faith, deeply rooted in the rich history of San Marcos. Our origins can be traced back to the historic First Baptist Church, which was the original Baptist congregation in the area. In 1871, to better serve the growing community, the church lovingly branched into two new congregations: New Zion Baptist Church and our own, which was first established as Second Baptist Church.
Our congregation later adopted the name Greater Bethel Baptist Church, reflecting our growing faith and commitment to the community.Throughout the decades, the church has been a place where individuals and families have gathered to worship, pray, and support one another, fostering a sense of belonging and purpose.
Under the dedicated leadership of Pastor Derick Benn, Greater Bethel continues to thrive as a Christ-centered congregation. Our ministries encompass a wide range of activities, including Sunday services, Bible studies, youth programs, and community outreach initiatives. We are committed to breaking the darkness of hopelessness and despair, striving to be a light in the community.
