A Message from the Pastor

A special welcome from Pastor Derick Benn and First Lady Tonnie Benn.

Welcome to Greater Bethel
We are so glad you are here.

On behalf of the entire Greater Bethel Baptist Church family, First Lady Tonnie and I want to extend our warmest welcome to you. For over 140 years, God has been faithful to His people on this corner, a place that once served as a refuge for former slaves and now houses a vibrant, multi-generational congregation.

While our world has changed drastically, our God has not. What He was for the saints of old, He remains for us today: our strong tower, our refuge, and our present help. As I often say before each sermon, "The grass withers and the flower fades, but the Word of our God shall stand forever" (Isaiah 40:8). This truth is the foundation of our ministry.

Our vision is for Greater Bethel to be a House of Prayer and Worship, a place where fellowship develops into meaningful relationships, needs are met, and evangelism is fundamental. We've worked hard to make that vision a reality, striving to be both "hi-tech and hi-touch" to reach every generation with the timeless message of the Gospel. Whether in person or online, our focus is getting the Word to those who desire it.

We are passionate about teaching and preparing the next generation of church leadership through our Bible Studies, Sunday School, and training sessions. Under my leadership, we have seen women firmly established in ministry, nine deacons have been ordained, and countless families strengthened.

We believe God has a unique plan for your life, and we are here to help you discover it. If you seek first the Kingdom of God, all other things will fall into place. We invite you to join us as we choose obedience and walk in the blessings of God together.

In His Grace,

Pastor Derick & First Lady Tonnie Benn
